Southern Nuclear, headquartered in Birmingham, AL, operates Southern Company's six nuclear reactors at three locations in Georgia and Alabama: two reactors at Plant Vogtle, near Waynesboro, GA; two reactors at Plant Hatch, near Baxley, GA; and two reactors at Plant Farley, near Dothan, AL. In addition, planning and excavation activities continue for the future construction of two new reactors at our Plant Vogtle location. We currently have an opportunity for a Planning Supervisor at our Plant Hatch in Baxley, GA.

JOB SUMMARY

The Planning Supervisor, is responsible for setting and reinforcing management standards and expectations in the field, monitoring performance and providing feedback to assigned personnel. This position provides input for resource loading maintenance work into the schedule. In addition, this position must provide necessary support and normally fill a role in the Emergency Response Organization. This position will also require being "on call" as the Duty Maintenance Manager on a periodic rotation.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

The Planning Supervisor, leads a group of Nuclear Planning Specialists with responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Ensure standards are understood and enforced.

• Provide input for resource loading maintenance work into the outage schedules.

• Interface with other departments to plan schedule work for outages.

• Create work packages for craft and contractor use in the field.

• Provide clear understanding to workers of their performance.

• Ensure work plans and schedules fully utilize available worker-hours.

• Maintaining high standards and holding personnel accountable for meeting standards.

• Ensure management expectations for personnel safety, including dose management, are met for outage scheduling.

• Ensure expectations for conduct of maintenance are met.

• Use operating experience to prevent problems and improve performance.

• Use self assessments to identify opportunities to improve and confirm good performance.

• Use benchmarking to improve performance.

• Fill a designated role in the Emergency Response Organization.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Bachelor's degree a plus.

Background/Experience Requirements:

• A minimum of two (2) years commercial or navy nuclear experience.

• Two (2) years of supervisory experience is desired, which may include both full time and/or temporary assignments to support special projects or outages.

• A minimum of four (4) years of related experience is required in planning, project management and/or scheduling.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Working knowledge of common computer tools, including MS Word and Excel.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Must be able to interface with other departments to plan scheduled work.

• Ability to create work packages for craft and contractor use in the field.

• Ensure work plans and schedules fully utilize available worker-hours.

• Must use operating experience to prevent problems and improve performance, must use self assessments to identify opportunities to improve and confirm good performance, and also must use benchmarking to improve performance.

• Must have working knowledge of computer software programs supporting assigned area such as P6, Maximo, ESOMS, and Excel.

• Must be well organized and capable of handling multiple priorities simultaneously.

• Must have strong communication and presentation skills.

• Must have strong problem solving skills.

• Must have working knowledge of codes, standards and technical specifications.

• Must have working knowledge of plant systems, structures and components.
