Plant Farley, powered by pressurized water reactors (PWR) is located near Dothan, Alabama.

Outstanding Employment Opportunities:

Successful candidates will perform duties at Plant Farley for a specified period of time in preparation for Reactor Operator License class. Duties include qualifying on, monitoring, and operating plant mechanical, electrical, and reactor systems; inspecting and adjusting operating equipment; performing surveillances and special test activities.

Job Requirements:

Candidates must meet t he following qualifications for NPOIT Reactor Operator License Candidate Eligibility, as outlined in NMP-TR-410 Version 13.0.


·At least 12 months performing plant operational duties as a qualified non-licensed operator at a comparable (BWR/PWR) facility (qualified for all power block and safety systems operational duties)


18 months performing plant operational duties at a noncomparable commercial power reactor facility.


· At least 6 months performing plant operational duties as an ACTIVE licensed reactor operator (per 10 CFR 55.53(e)) at a comparable (BWR/PWR) facility


12 months experience at a noncomparable commercial power reactor facility.


· At least 18 months of experience in a position equivalent to the reactor operator position at a military reactor (qualified to manipulate or direct the manipulation of control rods)

  • Reactor Operator

  • Engineering Officer of the Watch / Propulsion Plant Watch Officer

  • Engineering Watch Supervisor / Propulsion Plant Watch Supervisor

Total Powerplant experience greater than the following:

  • 18 months for a nuclear or military reactor facility

Other Requirements:

  • Respirator qualifiable

  • Ability to be SCBA qualified

  • Ability to work shift work and overtime

  • Ability to work at heights, balancing, carrying, climbing stairs, crouching, dust/vapors/gaseous, extreme noise, extreme temperatures, fine manipulation, forward reaching, grasping, lifting, pushing/pulling, standing, talking, wet & humid conditions, bending/reaching, climbing ladders, crawling, driving automobiles, elevated surfaces, hearing, kneeling, overhead reaching, poor lighting, seeing, sitting, stooping, walking

  • Problem Solving Skills

  • Analytical Skills

  • Oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to Follow Critical Procedures

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Nuclear Plant Access Authorization

  • POSS Test Qualified

  • Must perform daily with a safety-focused attitude and commitment to zero accidents or injuries

  • High School diploma or equivalent

This position is covered under a collective bargaining unit and will be filled in accordance with the bargaining unit’s Memorandum of Understanding.
