Southern Company NDE Supervisor in Columbia, Alabama
This position may site at any SNC Site.
This position is responsible for supervising the NDE Team located at each SNC operating site. This supervisor position is responsible for supervising all areas of the work group including providing quality customer service, individual performance management of fleet non-destructive examination (NDE) personnel, providing budget support, delegation of contractor administration and task directing for contracted services initiated onsite, training and development of operating site personnel, and maintaining compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. This position can be performed at any SNC location (Vogtle, Hatch, Farley, or Birmingham)

JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)
• B.S. Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university, or Level III in at least 3 NDE methods required
• Basic knowledge of NDE methods and application in the nuclear industry required
Experience leading change required
Experience working with multiple departments required
Excellent interpersonal, decision making, and communications skills required
• Previous supervisory experience desired
• Understanding of accounting and budgeting process desired
• Experience providing refueling outage NDE oversight during planning and execution desired
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Specify major duties performed by the job and % of time spent on duties.
• Coordinates execution of NDE during refueling and non-refueling outage periods (70%)
o Provides oversight and performance review of NDE team located at operating sites
- Provides direction to approximately 25 contractors during a refueling outage
o Keeps NDE Manager apprised of emerging issues and path to resolution
o Promotes development of all NDE specialists for additional certifications
o Working with SNC Fleet Programs Engineering and management for standardization of NDE implementation
o Ensures that the highest standards and behaviors are being utilized
o Monitors outage performance and manages issues as they arise
o Leverages fleet peers and organizational resources to assist in issue resolution
o Provides technical challenge of nuclear safety, ensure personnel safety, and promptly respond to operational needs
o Provides communication with site management and fleet peers
• Drives continuous improvement through industry involvement, benchmarking, self-assessments, and training (10%)
o Facilitates growth of NDE training, methods, and techniques for the nuclear industry
- Facilitates sharing and implementation of operating experience and industry good practices across the fleet
• Ensures outage reports are developed following completion of NDE during refueling outages (10%)
• Support development and management of the budget and forecast expenditures for site required NDE (10%)
